Over and Out

Not forever,
just for the rest of the week.
I'm heading to Victoria for a friend's art show opening.
It will be nice to get away for a little while
have a break from it all.

I had a crazy busy weekend -
went on a clothing shopping spree that I couldn't afford
(but don't regret even a tiny bit)
unpacked a few little items that were still packed away
put up Hilda (one of my favorite pieces of art that fella found on the side of the road - think sad little girl face done with pastel crayons, red velvet matting and gold frame. She's gorgeous. The signature of the artist looks like it says Hilda so that's what we call her. I found a great nook for her.)
She now resides on the telephone ledge with our Colima dog
it looks like this:

and a lovely statue that my friend's mother made
(no photo of that baby)

I also decided to put an old dresser that I bought on the side of the road in the dining room so we have somewhere to put our new cutlery set
(I haven't had a chance to write about that! It's coming!)
and other doodads that don't fit in the one drawer in our kitchen.
(that's right - ONE drawer! I make it work.)
It looks great in the room. Love it.

So things are looking good.
I don't know why I feel compelled to organize and clean my house before I go away.
I guess it's the deep seated fear that my mother rooted in me that you might die while you're away and then people will go in your house and judge you.
(I'm not even touching the clean underwear rule. That goes without saying.)

If all goes as planned, the only person going into our house while we're away is the cat sitter.

So I'll be off since today is my last day at work and I have oodles of stuff to to.
Tonight I go read at GRTTWAK from my Annie Diary from 1983.
I found some good material in there.
Here's hoping I get some laughs.

Ta for now!
