Yesterday we went to an auction at Hume's Auction Farm (in Milton).
I loved it.
The auction was 5 hours long
but there were few dull moments.
It was fascinating to see who bought what and how much they paid for it.
Knowing very little about antiques, I just buy stuff I like and that I know I'll use.
I don't buy anything because I think it's worth anything.
I decide what it's worth to me
and go for it.
And go for it,
we did.
Here were some of our wins!
$10 for the set
(a little worn but in great condition)
Mission Oak Chair with leather seat
$40
a pair of crazy brass helmet lamps
$45
a mish mash of glass ware that I went for because I love these
candlewick glasses from the 50's.
the whole box of glassware was $5
I got 2 of these
6 wine goblets
then a bunch of other ones that don't match
but that's ok.
$5!!
you can't see the colour very well in the photo but they're pale blue fire king bowls.
they were pricey at $20 each
but they're gorgeous!
this was one of the ones I was most excited about
$10!
It's for my office
(pictures of that to follow. I realized that I've done a lot in that room and posted nothing.)
We also got this one:
this was also $10
Amazing.
I also went after this baby.
It was at the very end of the auction so they were throwing stuff together in lots and I had my eye on it.
There was a bunch of stuff no one wanted.
And then they threw in the white tumbler.
Fella was in the process of loading our haul into the truck and I was waiting.
Once they added in the tumbler, my hand went up
and I got it
two pyrex coffee pots
a funnel (which come in very handy)
this
which... I really don't know what to do with but it's kind of cute...
and this...
nothing special but practically free!
I"m officially cut off from buying bowls, though.
There's no more room at the inn..
don't they look cute though?
It was a great day!

Don't encourage me! I thought if I said out loud that I wasn't going to buy anymore but I know myself too well. I have a whole bunch of other bowls that aren't even on this shelf - they were my mother's and grandmother's and came from my dad's house when he moved out. Sigh...love the antique glass...
