peeve

I just heard this so it reminded me of one thing I really hate.

When you're talking to someone.
They've asked you a question
you are in the process of responding
and they start talking over you by saying,
"yeah yeah yeah".

This is SO rude.
And dismissive.
I want to say -
Why did you ask me if you aren't going to listen to what I have to say?
Why involve me at all when my input is instantly meaningless?

And yes, I know that I'm being "oversensitive" but sometimes I just get tired of people who think they can say whatever they want and never think about the impact of their words.

And not that I want to start the day off in a negative light
but there are two people I work with who do this.

And it irks me.

There.
I'm done now.

Oh I totally agree - that makes me nuts!

I did an experiment in high school (eons ago haha) when people would say "hey how are ya" as they walked by, I'd reply saying "my cat died".

100% said something like "ya me too!" or "that's good, have a good day"

ha.

So many people don't care about the response when they ask a question. They are waiting for the next break in the conversation so they can say what they want.

That is hilarious! What a great response! Sometimes, when people interrupt me, I just keep talking until they realize that we are both talking at the same time and that neither of us can hear the other. They get this confused look on their face as though to say - why are you talking? Being the youngest of seven children, I'm used to being low on the totem pole but if you come to my office to ask me a question, the shush it until I answer you or don't bother!
You're totally right about people not caring about the response - it's all about what they have to say. Not about what they could hear.
Argh.
