this week is going to be hectic.
I've decided to run for the Board of Governors at work.
I have to be elected to serve.
This means I had to do several things that are very painful:
1. Write a platform statement. (Why to vote for me in 200 words or less.) It was surprisingly difficult to write this because you have to mean what you say. You have to mean it or people will know you're full of crap. Ugh.
2. Have a decent photo of myself taken. This involved fella and I heading out to the snowy wasteland that is our backyard and me having to get over my loathing for having my photo taken, stop making goofy faces and smile til my cheeks hurt. Then pore over them to choose the best one. Double ugh.
3. Make a poster with abovementioned photo and plaster it all over the place. This is the worst because now I have to confront the photo everytime I leave my office. Gah.
Voting started today and now I am trying to get people to vote for me. I'm running against one other person and there's no way of knowing how she'll fare. All I can do is try to get people to vote for me.
All in all - excruciating.
It's weird that I feel this way.
I am a classical singer.
I have a music degree in Performance for cripes sake - but that's different. I can get up and sing in front of hundreds of people and overcome any nerves that crop up but I don't like a lot of attention.
We are funny beings, we humans.
In other news, we put up some curtains in the dining room over the weekend but we still have the wretched blinds up so it doesn't look so fab yet. I took some before photos so I'll take some afters later today (If I get out of work early. Swamped. So swamped)
I also made a sort of "gallery wall" in my office. It looks ok but I think I should have hung them closer together.
I'll take pictures of that too....
Happy Monday!
