Square Foot Show - Affordable Art in One Square Foot

I love art. But I don't have a lot of money. I have found a compromise. The Square Foot Show at the AWOL Gallery http://www.awolgallery.com/square_foot/. They truly have something for everyone - they have hundreds and hundreds of pieces that vary from the weird to the wonderful (since, after all, beauty is in the eye of the beholder). It's held in the 100A Ossington space which is like (or perhaps is) a theatre space - a big black room where they hang all of the pieces. Everything is $200 and is 12 x 12 - one square foot - get it?) so you don't need a lot of money or a lot of wall space which works for poor apartment dwellers like me!
I've got three pieces from each year I've gone and I don't regret any of them. Word of warning! The show opens on August 15th so go early! Once the pieces are sold, that's it! Last year I fell in love with a piece so much that I tracked down the artist and convinced her to make me one of the ones she had in the show. I can't guarantee that all artists are willing to go to these extremes but she said she was really flattered at my pursuit of her.
You should go. It's free. You'll probably love it, and besides, it's good for your brain to look at art.
