i don't like monday

Today really felt like Monday.
I know.
Don't go saying
"Well, it's Monday, genius. So it should feel like Monday!"
That's not always true.
Mondays don't always feel like Mondays.
But today did.
And here's why:
1. I just came off a week of vacation
(as did the majority of Toronto, apparently, judging by the vast number of people on the subway on my way home. I have never seen it that busy at that time of day. That being said, I left work late and stood in line at the grocery store for 15 minutes on my way home so my "routine" was shot to bits. That's what I get for veering away from my blessed routine.)

2. It was a rainy, cool, grey day.

3. It felt like fall.
(I know that this point could have been included in number 3 but I chose not to do that to emphasize my point/be melodramatic.)

4. It felt like the beginning of school.
(again, this is part of the "feeling like fall" point but still. I felt the need to buy pencil crayons and scribblers and thought that deserved a separate point.)

5. I sat on gum in the subway.
green gum
on my black, cotton dress.

I have never sat on gum in the subway in the 16 years I've lived in Toronto but today was my inauguration. What an honour.

But - the day is mostly done.
Dinner is in the oven and a glass of wine in my hand is imminent.
Here's to Tuesday!
