I bought this book for my fella's mother for Christmas.
Then, World's Biggest Bookstore had a sale last week because it was their 30th anniversary
(complete with a woman staggering around outside on stilts)
so every thing was 30% off.
So I bought one for myself.
I haven't been reading a lot lately, which is strange for me.
I have been reading the newspaper on my subway ride in the morning in an effort to educate myself on what is going on in the world outside my little bubble.
(It was the Chilean miner rescue that prompted it. My co-worker was watching the broadcast on her computer and I said to her -
What are you watching?
She said: "The rescue."
I admit I didn't know what she was talking about.
(I didn't admit that to her. I just immediately returned to my office and went on CBC to find out.)
Needless to say, it was embarassing.
My excuse is that I don't have cable so I don't watch tv
and I don't read the news online on a regular basis.
I read blogs about design and clothing and other critical matters.
So I stopped carrying a book with me to and from work
and started picking up the Metro Daily Free Paper.
I do not immediately go to the celebrity news pages
(actually, I often don't even read them. I'm really not that interested in celebrities anymore)
I read the real news.
And I feel a little better, knowing that I have some clue about what's going on.
But I haven't been reading much and needed a really juicy book to get me back in the swing.
And this one is just that book.
It's kind of creepy and spooky
because you know something is going to happen
and it's not going to be good
but it's going to be really good!
(if you know what I mean.)
I'll keep you posted.
I think it's going to be a winner.

Initally, the Eckhart Tolle speech made me laugh because he's kind of ridiculous but a lot of what he says is true. If you can just get past that vest and all the giggling....
